Interested in Becoming an Officer for the Wallis Police Department

To become a Police Officer for the City of Wallis, applicants must:

• Be 21 years of age on date of appointment. No maximum age limit
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Have a valid Texas driver’s license
• Have good credit
• If a military veteran, applicant must have an honorable discharge
• Pass a physical examination
• Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20
• Hearing must be normal
• Show no trace of illegal drug use
• Successfully pass a psychological evaluation
• Successfully complete all phases of required testing
• Applicants will be interviewed
• All costs for the application process, for credit history, medical examination and psychological testing are to be paid by the applicant.

Job Opening/Crime Victims Liaison/Grant Writer

The City of Wallis Police Department is currently seeking a Crime Victims Liaison/Grant Writer.  This individual will provide victims of crime, guidance on how to obtain resources and possible crime victims compensation.  This position will require some travel and training depending on individuals background and experience.  The position will also require the individual to attend Crime Victims Conferences.  You will be responsible for maintaining grants and submitting timely reports.  The position will also require you to seek out and apply for grants that are available, that would be beneficial to the department.  You will be required to maintain said grants once they are awarded.  This position does not require Law Enforcement experience but it is preferred.  Once selected, a complete background will be conducted on the individual along with being fingerprinted.  The City of Wallis is an equal opportunity employer.  For more information contact Captain Flores at eddieflores@wallistexas.org
