City of Wallis Economic Development Corporation
In April of 2000 the City of Wallis Economic Development Corporation was established to preserve and enhance economic development within the City of Wallis.
MISSION The mission of the Corporation is:
* Existing business support and growth
* New business recruitment
* Job creation
* Tourism promotion
* Community enhancement
ADMINISTRATION The Corporation is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors who are appointed by City Council.
Up to four of the board seats maybe held by city council members, with the remaining seats reserved for citizens of Wallis.
FUNDING Funding for Corporate activities is provided by a dedication of one third of the City's sales tax revenues.
MEETINGS The Board meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month at City Hall. Meetings open at 7:00 PM, and are open to the public.
The Notice and Agenda of each meeting is posted on the front door of City Hall at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.
Both new and existing businesses are eligible for cash match grants for store-front improvements, signage, and property
improvements such as landscaping and lighting.
Expansion of existing businesses as well as new business relocation is encouraged by a tax abatement policy designed to meet
the needs of both small and large companies. Value added as low as $50,000 is eligible for tax abatement. For further information contact Wallis City Hall.
